You may be familiar with the name of Diablo II, as it is one of the most influential games to exist in this decade.  It was released in June of 2000, but a decade later, its gameplay and online system still holds up.  People make “clones” of it in order to profit off of its success.  Two such games are TitanQuest for the PC and Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers for Game Boy Advance.  In the game, you play as one of five classes, the Paladin, the Barbarian, the Sorceress, the Amazon, and the Necromancer.  Each of these has different abilities, based on their profession before the events of the game.  The Paladin is a holy character and this is reflected in his abilities, such as Holy Shock and Zeal.  The Barbarian comes from one of the tribes of the north.  Example abilities are War Cry and Leap Attack.  The Sorceress is one of a clan of mage women.  Example abilities are Fire Wall and Freezing Armor.  The Amazon is a master of bows and favors the spear class of melee weapons.  Example abilities are Evade and Immolation Arrow.  The Necromancer is a master of black magic and manipulating the fabric of existence.  Sample abilities are Raise Skeleton and Iron Maiden.  Your goal is to destroy the demon Diablo to save the world.  (more…)

Call of Duty is a game about World War II, and is very realistic.  (The others in the series aren’t because of the health system.  You get hurt, get behind cover, and wait for the blood to fall off of your face your health to regenerate.)  You play as an American paratrooper at D-Day, at least at first.  Then your team is picked to do some special missions.  You also play as a Russian conscript and a British soldier.
